Mentorship And Positive Life Experiences

Bow & Arrow

My Choices Have Power

The Bow and Arrow Program was established to empower youth experiencing homelessness, chronic illness and hardship with positive role models to deliver life guidance and stability through mentorship.

Those invited to participate in the program are selected based on need and desire for a better life. Through the Bow & Arrow program, children experiencing hardship are given life-changing opportunities through mentorship and education.

Within the program, we refer to our counselors as 'Bows'.

They are trusted guides whose purpose is to help. The children with whom our mentors are assigned are known as 'Arrows'.

Together, our Bows give energy to the Arrows and provide direction. They work together to reach goals and hit their targets in life. Through interactive experiences and educational projects our FTN counselors are able to motivate, build trust, and instill confidence in the children they mentor. One child at a time, we watch our Arrows overcome adversity. We encourage them and applaud as they learn to hit their targets.

Activities & Events

The Foundation hosts 6 themed events annually

with help from our volunteers, staff and local law enforcement.

For The Need hosts a variety of exciting and well-organized events throughout the year. Children within our program are invited to participate in themed adventures, sports activities and educational opportunities. Our events revolve around team building, acquiring new skills and positive exposure to leaders within the community. Each event is filled with fun activities, great food and refreshments, social engagement and focus on learning an important life skill.

Who Can Be An Arrow?

FTN makes opportunities available to children experiencing homelessness and unstable living conditions. At times, the children invited to participate in our program have family members who are chronically ill. Often, the families we serve live in shelters, motels or even cars, trying to transition to permanent housing. Our goal is to locate children that might exist in these conditions and show them how to become an active participant in shaping a better outcome for their future.

Who Can Be A Bow?

To become a Bow, you must be at least 18 years of age or older. In addition, a Bow must commit to a full calendar year which consists of participation in the six designated events and other miscellaneous activities including shelter visits and training opportunities.

This commitment allows for Bows and Arrows to connect and interact with each other while bonding and creating great memories over the course of the year.

With the help of our Bows, every young Arrow is given an opportunity to discover character and potential they may never have known they had.

Crossbows

Young future mentors, called Crossbows, have the opportunity to work alongside our Bows as 'counselors in training'. Crossbows arrive to each event eager to help and connect with our Arrows, creating a culture of support and learning.

Safety & Security

The safety and security of our children is our priority. All of our volunteers and staff are put through intense background checks and training such as Live Scan and a Department of Justice background investigation.

Our Safety & Security team is dedicated to ensuring the safe arrival, participation, and departure of all participants and volunteers at our events.
